ARIZONA WINTER G*LF GUIDE

Now that the weather has cooled off in Arizona, the question becomes “where do you play?” Well, if you played during the scorching summer you may see the price point of those courses you played at a low rate in August are now drastically different in November. Don’t worry-we’ve got you covered. Here are courses at a high, medium, and low, price point to play this winter.

$$$

  1. The Boulders Golf Club - $190-$250

Located in Carefree, Arizona. The Boulders Golf Club is one our favorite places to play year-round. Although it is a bit of a drive from Phoenix, the course offers views unlike anywhere else in the valley and a great challenge for players at all levels. Do not be alarmed by the price of a morning tee-time. We recommend booking an afternoon round when the whole day will come out to approximately $190.

  1. Grayhawk Golf Club - $190-$260

The former host of the “Fry’s Electronics Open” PGA Tour event, located in Scottsdale, Arizona, offers a tour-quality experience. The two courses on property (Talon and Raptor) give players an opportunity to play a different layout on the same weekend if it suits your golf trip. After your round, “Phil’s Grill” is a legendary spot to grab a cocktail, and right across the street at Isabella’s Kitchen the day’s festivities flow into nighttime.

  1. We-Ko-Pa Golf Club - $185-$250

20 minutes outside of Scottsdale, We-Ko-Pa is regarded as one of the best courses in all of Arizona. This course is about as pure as it gets in the winter, making it an easy choice for us on this list. We-Ko-Pa also offers an interesting, dynamic pricing when booking that reduces the rate if booked outside of 8 days, which is something to lookout for prior to booking.

  1. Talking Stick Golf Club - $90-$165

If you are just visiting Scottsdale for the weekend, Talking Stick Golf Club might be your best option to get out a play a great round of golf. 36-holes of challenging-but-fair golf on tremendous conditions will lead you and your group to a great time, no matter how well you play. And if playing 18-holes wasn’t enough to cure your golf craving, located directly behind Talking Stick is TopGolf where you can keep on plugging away.

  1. Papago Golf Course - $80-$120

Want to play at the home course of the Arizona State Sun Devils? We do, quite often actually. Papago offers one of the most playable desert golf experiences in Arizona which keeps us coming back time and time again. If you have the opportunity to play here, be sure to set a little time aside to enjoy some food or drinks at their outdoor bar/restaurant setup. The views are great and the vibe is even better.

  1. Raven Golf Club - $90-$140

The Raven is a breath of fresh air when it comes to golf in the desert. The pine tree lined fairways offer an amazing change of pace from what we are typically used to when playing in Arizona. If you are missing playing courses with a northwest feel, then Raven Golf Club should be your go to pick this winter.

  1. Silverado Golf Club - $40-$105

Silverado is one of Scottsdale’s favorite par-70 courses and is just 5 minutes from Old Town Scottsdale. This course is best suited for people who are looking to get out and work on their game but do not want the time commitment of driving 20+ minutes to find a cheap rate during the winter. This is our favorite midweek leave-the-office early-and-get-as-many-holes-in-as-you-can place to play here in Scottsdale.

  1. Grand Canyon University Golf Course - $35-$85

The former Municipal golf course has been overhauled with the help of Grand Canyon University and is now a great option for people looking for a “bang for your buck” golf course in Phoenix. The course is always well maintained and great environment to improve your game.

  1. Encanto Golf Course - $35-$60

Encanto is your favorite local municipal golf course. When you get to the course on any given day you’ll find, the local skins games that have been going for 10+ plus years are in full effect, people practicing before work, and those looking to sneak in a quick afternoon round. Encanto holds a special place in the Devereux team’s heart.
